Dropping out of college after just two days, Blake felt as though for him the path of formal education was a waste of important time. Not long after he lands an epic job with master surf photographer Aaron Chang! For over half a decade he was immersed in the surf photography scene, shadowing one of the most well-known names in the industry.

Having never left the US, Blake departs on a solo trip to the furthest reaches of the South American continent. This would be the first of several, 6 month long expeditions to explore and photograph the beauty of Patagonia, while continuing to work for Chang the other half of the year. In awe of the endless glaciers, towering spires and abundant wildlife–this is where Blake finds his eye as a photographer. These next 3 years of travel would take Blake to 10 countries in the Americas!

Moving into his truck, Blake begins photographing the beauty of the American West, often spending entire seasons photographing California’s stunning Sierra Nevada Range as well as the West’s most iconic animals such as the bison, grizzly bear, wolves, and wild horses.

In a monumental step on his 27th birthday, Blake officially opens the doors of the Blake DeBock Gallery in The Village at Mammoth Lakes, CA—a place deeply intertwined with his journey as an artist and adventurer. Nestled in the heart of the Sierra Nevada, Mammoth has been his playground and the source of his creative energy since childhood. Now, with his gallery standing in the very town where he's spent his formative years exploring, photographing, and chasing the perfect light, his story comes full circle. Along side the opening he unveiled his most important image to date, ‘God’s Country,’ which quickly sold through most of the limited edition collection in the first year.

Traveling to Yellowstone on the coldest day of the year, Blake captures a massive bull bison as it stands covered in frost from the mist of a thermal spring—Quickly becoming Blakes most well-known image.

Deeply inspired by the great herds of mustangs in the American West, Blake captures a stunning collection of wild horse masterpieces. Not long after Blake decided to adopt and train his first mustang, Eclipse. With these images Blake advocates and brings awareness to the challenges facing our treasured wild horse herds.
